Emergency Visits
If you or a loved one has suffered trauma to the mouth, call our office right away. We will walk you through what needs to happen next and can even take emergency appointments if necessary! Don’t go see an ER doctor for this type of injury unless it is life threatening, in which case please dial 911 immediately. Otherwise, they are not trained or equipped with the supplies needed for dental emergencies such as knocked out teeth—our Plano Emergency Dentist would be better suited to handle that situation and we make time every day just in case something like this happens so patients don’t have long waits when there’s trouble coming your way due to oral injuries.
Gum Disease
Gum disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss and can lead to serious health problems. Gum disease, also known as gingivitis (the reversible stage) or periodontal diseases (advanced), are caused by bacteria that inflames other parts your body such as a heart attack stroke diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis pregnancy complications and some cancers. There’s good news though: gum infections are preventable!
Mouthguards & Nightguards
Your mouth is the only part of you that can’t be replaced. Protect it with a custom guard to avoid accidents and injury in sports or at home when clench your teeth, grind them while sleeping, etc. You might never think about how important your mouth guards are for protecting you from injuries until something happens – like getting hit in the face by an errant ball during a game on accident! With this type of protection there’s no need to worry anymore because our dental professionals will create one specifically designed for what suits each person best (including any tooth grinding!).
Oral Cancer Screenings
Providing regular oral cancer screenings for our patients is one of the most important jobs we have as your dental advocates. Oral hygiene and prevention are crucial but waiting too long before getting screened can be detrimental to a patient’s health. Screenings provide us with information on potential risks or problems which allow us to take necessary precautions for your health.
Oral Hygiene
Clean teeth are the cornerstone of a good smile. It is important that you brush your pearly whites twice every day, floss daily, and rinse with water when those tools aren’t available to ensure maximum hygiene. Scheduling regular cleanings at our office will be certain to provide all-rounded care for your mouth by removing plaque or tartar buildup we might have missed on previous visits!
Pediatric Dentistry
We’re happy to offer quality pediatric dentistry for your little ones in Plano. We place a strong emphasis on teaching kids about dental health from the very beginning because baby teeth set the stage for adult teeth to grow properly later in life. Our dentists in Plano will teach them how important brushing and flossing are, as well as show them how do it correctly at home. We see children starting at age three.

General Dentistry FAQs
1. What services are included in general dentistry?
At Lonestar Dental Group, we provide a wide range of general dental services focused on preventing, diagnosing, and treating common oral health concerns. This may include dental exams, professional cleanings, digital X-rays, fillings, gum care, and other routine treatments designed to help maintain healthy teeth and gums.
2. How often should I visit the dentist for routine care?
Our team typically recommends dental checkups and cleanings every six months for most patients. Regular visits help us monitor your oral health, detect problems early, and provide preventive care before issues become more serious or uncomfortable.
3. Why are professional dental cleanings important?
Even with good brushing and flossing habits at home, plaque and tartar can still build up in hard-to-reach areas. Professional cleanings help remove buildup that may increase the risk of cavities, gum disease, bad breath, and other oral health concerns over time.
4. Can general dentistry help detect dental problems early?
Yes, routine dental visits allow us to identify early signs of tooth decay, gum disease, enamel wear, infections, and other concerns before they progress. Early treatment can often help prevent discomfort, more extensive procedures, and long-term damage to your smile.
5. Is general dentistry appropriate for both children and adults?
Yes, we provide general dental care for patients of all ages. Routine care helps support healthy dental development in children, maintain oral health in adults, and address changing dental needs as patients get older.
6. What can I do between visits to keep my teeth healthy?
We recommend brushing twice daily, flossing consistently, limiting sugary foods and drinks, and keeping up with regular dental visits. Good daily habits combined with preventive care can help protect your smile and reduce the risk of future dental problems.
