  • Over-the-counter dental products (NO brushing, NO flossing, NO mouthwash, NO gum/mints)
    30 min prior
  • Prescription-strength antimicrobial or antibiotic rinses
Such as Chlorhexidine, Perioguard or prescription stannous fluoride products (ie Pardontax or Sensodyne for gum health)
    24 hours prior
  • Dental procedures that disrupt biofilm such as scaling and root planing or a routine dental cleaning
    2 weeks prior
  • No antibiotics for recent conditions such as a sinus infection, common cold, or any other acute condition, etc.
    6 weeks prior
  • No local antibiotics placed in a periodontal pocket in a dental office (ie: Arestin)
    4 weeks prior

You CAN take your daily medications as prescribed and any antibiotics (pre-med) taken before your dental cleanings. At Lonestar Dental Group, your comfort and safety are our priority—if you have any questions or concerns, please call our office or schedule an appointment today.
